So I was all psyched to put the finishing touches on my current rig which has taken a bit of time to put together. Its a rack stereo system outputing through a mesa 20/20. For cabs, due to limited space I went with 1x12 closed backs so I could get some stereo seperation. I bought empty cabs and speakers and like an idiot bought a new used celestion on ebay thinking my mesa would have a 16 ohm output. Its a Boogie it can do everything!!! WRONG.

Long story short; I'm debating whether to sell the 16 ohm speakers or try and find an inexpensive way to wire a 16ohm parallel dummy load in to bring the individual cabs back down to 8 ohms. Any thoughts on the subject would be appreciated. I'm tempted to just buy new eminence speakers and sell these.

I think you are giving yourself good advice.

Although it'd be possible ... its one less thing to worry about for the years
to come. good job on the stereo rack.. I had one one time... I miss it.
(although I didn't have a mesa 20/20 Rolling Eyes ) Very Happy

You would be wasting half your power into the dummy load.

You could buy another 16 ohm speaker and put that in parallel with the other one.

I agree paralell two 16's or go with new 8's

You can run 16 ohm speakers on 8 ohms without problems although you will experience some volume loss. Just don't run lower that the selected impedence. My cab is 16Ohm and it's running on 8 Ohm at the amp but I am using 120 watts not 20 and I want the amp to work a little harder as I paly metal anyway. Post your rig Wink
