|
|
Ok, so I just got these 4x12 cabs, (empty), but the interior is not split top and bottom with a, what I can only guess, would be a baffle. Is it necessary to split the top 2 speakers from the bottom 2 speakers? And what would be the benefit/detriment of doing/not doing so??????
Also, when wiring up the 4 speakers in the cab, what is the best way to do so. The amp head I'm using only says not to go below 4 ohms. Ok..fine. Also the amp head has 2 jacks for speaker cabs.......I'm putting 4x 8 ohms speakers in the cabs......sooo..... again.
Thanks! |

Hello SGD....i've never had a cabinet that had baffles or split top/bottom---so i have no idea why you would--perhaps the bass players use it to separate the woofs from the tweets or something...but i don't really know-----my 4x10 only had speakers in it---no baffles or anything
here's a link on wiring might help out >>> http://colomar.com/Shavano/speaker.html _________________ ~T~...Live a little >crank it up< ...

Hey owwdatune, Uhm....shoot! Baffle isn't the right term........I just don't remember what it's called......crap!
It's the piece of wood that separates the top 2 speakers from the bottom 2 speakers. My Randall has it. The "new" cab is a bit smaller than my Randall monster! Would that be why it doesn't have that piece of wood?
Randall: 28 1/2"x 28 1/2"x 14"
"New" cab: 27"x27"x15 1/4"
I've seen it on some cabs, but not on others......would the interior being smaller on the "new" cab have something to do with it? |

Ampeg SVT 8x10 cabinets have each horizontal speaker pair sectioned off in its own compartment.
You need to determine what load your amp requires. If you want a 16 -ohm cabinet like most 4x12's, you want 16 ohm speakers wired in series-parallel. |
