Ok, well first off its a temperamental problem and has started becoming more apparent since i hooked up a tubescreamer to the amp.
I can be playing, then all of a sudden the volume completely dissapears, although not entirely, you can still hear the guitar but its as though it has lost power. I then turn it off (standby) and it makes a pretty big bang. The tubes then sort of pop and click quite a lot while it cools down before i turn it off entirely.
The amp is an ENGL Screamer 50 (head)
Im probably going to take it to a local amp doctor, but if i can sort it out on my own (hopefully saving some money then it would obvioulsy be a bonus! |

Hard to say exactly, but my first guess would be the output transformer.
Unless you can receate this volume drop time and time again over many
days/weeks/months(?) then its something else. OT if the volume drop is
getting more frequent, and it should eventually 'die' ('die' + OT needs replacing). But then again, thats just a guess by what you typed. |
