|
|
I retired from playing professionally about 5 years ago, but still do the odd gig and jam with friends. I have a sweet 1960 Fender Concert that I just don't want to take out any more. I think it is around 30 watts and it has 4 10's. What would be a good replacement? I am thinking around 20 watts wtih two 10's or possibly one 12.
All suggestions welcome (tube amps only) except something equally vintage. Boutique amps, modern repros, whatever. I realize that the market is huge and I know squat, so i am eager for suggestions. |

The closest thing to an old Concert would be a Super Reverb, but that's 40 watts, 4 x 10's and heavy.
A Deluxe Reverb is 22 watts and 1 x 12", but breaks up pretty quickly so there's not much clean headroom; and the tone circuit isn't quite as satisfying.
A Vibrolux Reverb is 35 watts and 2 x 10's, same tone circuit as the Concert and Super; but you're into vintage again and they are very expensive. The new Vibrolux RI isn't the same amp in any way, shape or form.
I don't know anything about boutique amps; I've only played or needed my old Fenders.
I've heard great things from other players about the Vibrosonic. _________________ Yer guitar pickin' friend,
