It depends on what you want it to do and what type of music you play. For my money a practice amp is just that and it's not going to be used for much else. It's not for band practice, not for jam sessions, just personal practice. That's my view on "practice amps". With that said The most flexible amps I have found, that won't break the bank are:
1) Peavey Royal 8 (tube)
2) Line 6 Spider III 1 X 12 (trans)
3) Peavey Valve King 1 X 12 (tube)
There are others but these stand out for flexibility in my eyes.
A lot depends on price range an I am assuming low so those were my choices I'm ANAL about tone so I will always recomend tube amps (someone who learned the hard way). DONT buy into the "Wattage Thing" for a practice amp it means little to nothing for that application, flexibility is more important. That my opinion not law. Good Luck |

| templar72, you might consider a small Kendrick. Here's a link to their demo room. Scroll down and listen to the Black Gold and 118 demo. They offer a Black Gold 5 watt with reverb. http://www.kendrick-amplifiers.com/demos/ |
