Hey all as promised I have finally finished my Walnut cabinet project, the amp is a Fender Princeton Reverb 1979 Silverface this amp BLEW away an old 1968 PR with new tubes and a full tune up. Don't let the silverface scare you off, its one hell of an amp.
I really enjoyed doing this project it had several delays but I would do it again and may in the future, it was quite enjoyable.

I bought the Princeton Reverb because my friend said I would love it
and believe me I do, it is a great amp and now a nice piece of furniture in my home.

Thanks all for the support and encouragement.

The first 3 are of the construction phase.

This is where I used Fender aged grill cloth but, it seemed too bright
so I opted to go with a warmer cane grill cloth.

Thank you all kindly, I appreciate the compliments.

Also I had to make a tube label befitting, I found a custom style and
printed it on aged parchment paper and tested the ink with the polyurethane
it didn't run or affect it so I deco poshed it in place with a few coats of polyurethane.

I bought this amp originally on ebay and I believe it must have
come from estate of the original owner, it was mildly dirty no rips or tears, came with a foot switch and a Victoria cover, the face plate looks excellent with very few marks. I believe it has all the original tubes all of which say fender. But the bottom line as we all know is the sound, my name says it all and I dig the old school fender tones, with the 12" it sounds HUGE, the sustain simply doesn't quit. It, however is slightly less punchy than with the 10".
None the less I am quite happy with the whole project.
Thanks again for your comments and compliments.

Grampa, you really went whole hog with this one, even to the extent of the tube chart. That's cool. And I really agree with you about the 12" versus the 10". That would definitely be my choice, and I'd sacrifice a little punch for it.

Way to go! Cool

what a neat package & a perfect amp for it.... Very Happy ....i wish more peeps would resurrect their amps with this type of project---i'm so tired of seeing old scuffed-torn-ratty looking amps...for the sake of nostalgia ??....i don't know...but i love what you've done G-tbird.....the cane makes it super classy---thanks for sharing it with us Cool

BTW Gramps.....very good craftsmanship.....and i know from my own projects that the best benefit is the sound is so much more alive without tolex smothering the amp like a blanket....good for you Cool

I appreciate all the great comments guys, I had to replace the tubes as I noticed a bit of hi clipping, I suppose pushing the new 12" speaker took all the old tubes had to offer so I dropped a full set of JJ's in it from the guys at EuroTubes.com, the set had 1 bad tube but they told me to trash can it and sent me another straight away, I would highly recommend them for that alone. I had a similar experience with Triode.com they made me send the defective tube back at my expense. Anyhow, thanks again for all the nice words.

Great stuff !

My only comment would be about shock mounting the amp to cut down vibration from the speaker but perhaps this has already been done ?
