|
|
| Hey all. This being my first post, I thought I would ask about replacing my speaker in my 1996 American built Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. Why (??), you may ask.. Well, I am hoping to turn my amp into something that better matches my tonal requirements. I recently picked up a Peavey Rockmaster preamp with the hopes of achieving more of a hard metallic yet natural sounding distortion as opposed to the weak fender solid state overdrive distortion that is built into the amp. So far I am pleased but it still doesn't seem to have that certain crackle and punch that I am looking for. At this point I am assuming that the the current stock speaker is not designed for this style of music so perhaps I will need to swap it out for something better designed for more of a thrashy/heavy metal sound. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance. |

| I would recommend a Celestion vintage 30, or a Mojotone BV30. I've put both in lots of those amps and they make a big difference. |
