|
|
I'm looking to buy a new combo amp and I would like to be able to have drum loops playing while I practice. I have looked at the Fender G-DEC(only 30 watts!) that includes many drum loops but I would rather get the Line 6 spider with higher watage and other features that I really like. My question is this...
Is there some way(the easiest and most affordable) that I can run drum loops through the Line 6 while Im practicing? Either through my pc (to amp?) or using a MIDI controller? I am thinking about getting the Line 6 TonePort KB37 Audio Interface and MIDI Controller, or should I get the Line 6 TonePort UX2 USB Recording/Modeling Interface, along with a basic digital keyboard that includes some drum loops? OR (LOL!) do I need to get the Fender in order to get my drum loops while I'm playing? I am aware of the fact that I can use a line 6 port and play with drum loops on my pc but I want to do it live, through the amp too.
I am obviously pretty much a begginer to all of this and it's kind of tough to figure out! Any advice would be greatly appreciated... THANKS!!! |

hey golf,
basically your looking for an amp with a line in yeah? i own a hughes & kettner edition blue 60dfx that i practice with and have been really impressed. It has a "line in" jacks at the back so you can easyly plug your pc or ipod in and have the amp output your guitar with it.. its distortion is also pretty decent for a solid state amp.. one of the better onboard SS distortions about..(note: the "guitar in" and "line in" are totally seperated musically.. so you can have your guitar distorded and eq'd as you like with the "line in" sounds being unaffected.. just to be clear.. and ya.. this is good..). The best bit is that musicians friend (online) is selling this amp really cheap now as its been discontinued.. i paid $310 for mine.. and was well worth it.. they are selling the 60W model new for $199 and the 30W for $129.. to me it would suit your needs fine..
the line 6 stuff is pretty good, but if i was you i'd get the hughes & kettner 60dfx and the toneport kb37.. these two will be less than $90 more than the line 6 spider 3 amp alone.. and much more versitile. The kb37 really depends if you want to mess around with synths, loops, plugins etc.. (i have a small midi keyboard that i have hardly used.. had big expectations, but realised i didnt really know how to play piano after the initial playtime was over).
so anyway.. my call is: the H&K 60DFX and the line 6 audio interface of you choosing..
sorry for rambling on.. but hope it helps.. |
