Hello, all. I'm having some trouble with my Airline. It's a 100-Watt 1968 Airline 9151A, running through an attenuator into a custom cab I built. When I turn the bass up past 3 it starts to get a weird, liquidy clip, and above 5 it just sounds like *Poop*. It's like there's an abnormally low cap on the amount of bass my amp can produce. Is this because of an old tone capacitor? I just re-tubed it so that's not the issue. Any ideas?

That almost sounds like a speaker issue. Do you have another speaker you can try?

I don't have any extras laying around, but I don't think that's the problem. I have the exact same speaker setup in my modeling amp and it gets a lot of bass. More than my Airline.

Was it like this before you re tubed it? How does it sound without the attenuator?

It did this before I re-tubed it. Without the attenuator it's more subdued, but still present and the amp's even brighter. Complicated problem, I know, thanks for your input.

Without a schematic I couldn't even tell you where to look. If it were me I would remove the chassis and look for the obvious. Burned resistors, leaking electrolytics, and etc.

Has it always sounded like this or just started acting up recently?
