heya there! i'm new in here xD
well, i run an epiphone les paul custom plus (wich is new) in a very old sanyo stereo receiver head, 85watt and 2x20watt speakers. its kind of a vintage amp.
yesterday i went to a music store near me and tried a BUNCH of amps: peavey, roland, marshall, whatever, all of them with nearly 50watts.
what i figured out is that my sanyo amp doesnt give that much with the volume, i mean, i have to turn it to "7" to have some audible sounds! even the 50watt ones with the volume turned into "3" play louder!
is it a problem with the guitar connection (as i connect it by the tape-in behind the amp), equalization or age? is it possible for me to fix it?
thx

That Sanyo is built for home audio, not guitar. The "watt" output is measured differently. Using it as a guitar amp; I'll bet you aren't even getting 10 watts out of it.

and you are as right as you say. but, you see, i even once talked with an employer of the music store and he told me i'd rather stay with the amp i have (even though it's a multiamp or homeamp), because the sound it gets is better than most of the amps he had in the store..

but, kay, i was thinkin about buyin one after all... another question: whats the mith about marshall transistor-amps being "*Poop*"?

The signal from your guitar is not enough to drive your Sanyo.
You need a pre amp.

It is probably more of a mismatch of input impedance on the receivers input.
Guitar amps are typically 1 Meg Ohm ( 1 million ohms) on the input.
You could probably mod the receivers input but you would have to be experienced in electronics to do it. Wink
