Well, right now i have a marshall, like 60 dollar amp. for christmas ive been trying to gather money.. im aiming to spend around 500 on a amp unless someone really says something else.
but the style I want is a nice tech death metal sound, like any of the bands animosity, the faceless, or even just a nice metal sound, not old metal or most metal people think of..
Anybody have a idea of what type of amp i should try and look for? i heard the SPIDER III 150 is really nice for the price, should i listen to that or is there something that is probably better? because with line 6 i get either love it or hate it.
also, im getting a ec-1000 by ESP, it has EMG 81 (B) / 60 (N) Active on it. |

I just purchased a 67 Bassman Amp recently for way less than $500.00.
I installed it into a new 1x12 Combo Cab and put a new Speaker in it and after all that I have exactly $590.00 in a vintage all tube hand wired amp.
It can be done and you end up with a real tone making machine.
You do have to look around for a deal though. 67's bring around $400.00 to $500.00 generally but can even be had for less. |

| Why don't you go for a Marshall JCM amp? Also your probably not gonna get a "sculpted" tone your looking for without buying some pedals too so I'd suggest that but a tube Marshall with a pedal or too should do it. |

| Pick up a used amp, then try out a lot of different pedals until you find something you like. Marshall's are a good place to start as they can be found used at a reasonable price. However, Most Death Metal bands use High gain amps with 6L6 tubes for that "scooped" sound. Ie Mesa Boogie Rectifiers, Krank and Peavey. Marshall amps use EL34 tubes, giving a lot more mid range in they're sound. You could try out the Peavey Valveking range, they use 6L6 tubes and are high gain amps and are very reasonably priced. |
