| I will soon be purchasing a Schecter Damien 6. I need an amp (preferably solid state) that can play clean, but also has a really good distortion setting where I can get that nice crunch. I'm not really looking for anything above 20W. 30W tops. Any idea what kind of amp fits this description that is $250 or under? Thanks |

A Vox AD30 VT (30 watts) at or a Marshall ADVT20 (20watts), both have a 12ax7 tube in the preamp stage making the crunch more authentic. If you can push the extra bit of cash ($25-30) you can get the Peavey Valveking, for that you get tubes and 50 watts, a superior sound and more crunch than you'd know what to do with! It also has a class A setting meaning, it will only put out around 5 watts and change the nature of the amps characteristics completely. The Vox and Marshall are both well within your budget with plenty of cash to spare, and the Vox has onboard effects! Personally , i'd go for the Peavey as once you've had a tube amp there is no going back, and as your name suggests, i reckon you like Metal, so one of those 3 will be right up your street, check all 3 out, they're all nice! |

| Forgot to add, other brands such as Laney and Line 6 will offer other solutions simliar to what you are looking for. Peavey also does the Transtube range which may also be worth a look. |
