| I am getting an amplifier head for my guitar and I need to ask some questions concerning wattage, ohms, impedance and other audio ins and outs. I'm getting a 150 watt head set at 8 ohms (2x75), and I want to get the best available sound when I set out to buy a cabinet. I know I need a cab with at least a rating equal in ohms to the head, but I am baffled when it comes to speaker wattage in the cabinet. Say I've got a 150 watt head at 8 ohms. I get a 4 x12 120 watt cabinet. Will I be able to go full blast with the head? |

Stereo, I take it then. To get the best sound you would get
a 2x12 stereo cabinet (or 4x12 stereo cabinet).
each side of the cabinet will be 8 ohms and rated at atleast the
75 watts, but 100 or 150 would be ok too. If you want to run it in mono,
then it just has to be 8 ohms, +150 watts.. If its a tube head, don't be
afraid to go higher in the power - tube amps can peak much higher then
their stated power rating. |
