What type of amp would give me hellatious low end on a 400 watt 16ohm or 2x200 8ohm guitar cab?
I just want to make sure i use this cab to its full potential, I play 7 string so I want massive low end that can shake the paint off the walls, but also be able to make use of all 24 of my available frets on the highs.
It is a Behringer BG412F

I had a Line 6 Spider II 150 head, but it just did not have enough power. So I figure a power amp is my best bet as my effects and such are all handeled by my Behringer V-Amp anyways?
I read some places say to get an amp capable of double your speakers rated watts so that you have "head room" but that was only for power amps, but it is impossable to find a 800watt 16 ohm power amp, and if so, it would be way to much money.
What are the specs of an amp I should get? The Behringer Europower 1500 was suggested by a behringer employee, but all he responded to my entire email asking about specs and such was "yeah, it will work fine" It is 1400watts at 4 ohm.
Any suggestions thrown my way would be appreciated.
The Spider II cost me about 250$. I see 2500watt power amps on ebay for 250. Any experience with them?
What other rack mount items are advisable since were on the subject? I want to get a Rack mount Vamp, but what else might I need for playing live and such?
I realize I am asking for alot of information in alot of different areas, but I have searched everywhere for someone who knows anything about amps, but thus far have had no knowledgeable assistance.

That is backwards - maybe you typed it backwards on accident, or maybe
it wasn't clear when you originally read it. Using a 400W cab, with an
800W amp will not give you headroom - it will give you blown speakers.
The idea of using over rated speakers, simple put, is two fold. 1 - amps
are normally referred to by their rms wattage, not their peak wattage
which is higher - this gives you a safety range so the speakers will not
blow when turning up the volume. 2 - higher powered speakers will not
break up so soon if you are using a comparativly lower powered
amp - that will give you headroom. But some speakers are designed to
break up early, some are designed to break up late - so #2 is only
partially the answer. |

Running an amp at a lower load (8 ohms vs 16 ohms) will give you more power. There is less "resistance" to the signal.
That is a lot of power, and if you really need to be that loud you should be relying on the PA and the subs. |

| Thats alot of power, are you playing arena's? I'm not sure you can buy that much power off the shelf for a guitar amp. Have you tried approaching any manufacturers directly? |
