I'm particularly interested in the two volume control feature here. It basically looks like two channels with their volumes wired in parallel. I think it's based on the Fender tweed 5E3 design. Anyway, my question is do you think that there's gain/signal loss because of the two pots wired in parallel? Would adding resistors to the volume pots be advisable? Increasing the gain with a higher output V1 tube? Your thoughts? The designer of this amp said that the volumes interacting was a feature he was after.

I have built several 5E3. It is a fairly easy amp to build. My personal experience was there was no signal loss but with the interactive volumes the amp volume ramped up very quickly and at about 3 seemed to be at full volume. I could not get a lot of clean headroom out of the amp. The interactive feature of the volume did make for an interesting blend between the bright and normal channel allowing you to dial in extra bass. However, Due to the fact I wanted much more clean headroom I decided to install Bruce at Mission amps Volume mod which makes the channels independent and give the amp way more clean headroom.

Any one else out there with a similar experience?

Bob
