| So I initially wanted to trade in my Carvin V3 for the Genz Benz El Diablo, but I just couldn't part with a three channel amp with all those features! At first I didn't like the tone, because it seemed like you couldn't get any definition without it sounding shrill and bitter. I think a change in tubes would really do the trick. I really like the tones from Lamb of God, Chevelle, and Sevendust. Would you guys recommend changing out the EL34's for 6L6C's to get closer to the tone these guys have? As long as I can get a thick mid-heavy sound without the whole scooping nonsense, that would be Cool! |

| I wouldn't recommend 6L6s for that. The 6L6 is not going to sound as agressive, it will be smoother, and not as tight of distortion. What you might want to try is a good EQ pedal to be able to eliminate some of that harshness and shape your tone a little better if you can't get it from the amp's stock controls. |

| Really? Cuz most of the amps I've heard with 34s in them have more of a british rock voicing. And most of these amps like Boogies used in high gain situations have 6L6s. I'll probably try both, one way or another, I'm going to upgrade from the stock tubes. |

Well, please let us know how it goes when you make the changes! _________________ "I love the smell of hot solder in the morning. It smells like victory." |
