Hi all. This is my first visit to this board. does anyone have any information on modding the current v-series amps, in particular the palomino v32 and v16 and their sisters, the v1512 and v3112? there seems to be ample info online regarding Fender tube amp mods, particularly the Blues Jr. and it's big sisters, but frankly, I think the Crate v series amps SMOKE the fenders in the same price range. So much more responsive and harmonically rich....
I'm fairly certain that these superb sounding amps can be taken to the next level with a few tweaks. I know a tube upgrade makes an audible improvement, but I'm just wondering if anyone has done any minor surgery on the circuit board. also if anyone has any thoughts on 12ax7 substitutions in the vairious preamp positions, ie 12at7, etc., that would be great as well.
