MG30DFX replacement speaker?

I am wanting to replace the speaker in my MG30DFX. On the back of the amp it says 30 watts RMS into 4 ohms. Almost all the speakers I have seen available are 8 or 16 ohms. ( 10 inch) What to do????

Using an 8ohm speaker would be just fine in the amp. I own a marshall AVT50 and changed the speaker out for a Eminence Swamp Thang 8ohm. One of the main reasons I changed the speaker to this was to thicken my sound and also the Swamp Thang speaker was 6 Decibels more efficient then the stock speaker which gave me a very noticeable increase in volume. SolidState amps are fully compatible with putting higher ohms on it. the only time you run into problems is if you put a lower ohm load on your amp then it can handle. If you do this, you will overheat components and dramaticly shorten the life of your amp

So bottom line is you'll be fine to put an 8ohm speaker in your amp. I would not put a 16ohm speaker in because you would lose a lot of volume.

Thanks for the reply. Since my post I have ordered an Eminence Ramrod speaker. I think it will beef up the sound in my amp. Thanks again.

Put a 16 Ohm speaker in and you'll get a better sound, plus more safety and longer life of the speaker + amp.

Put an 8 Ohm speaker in if you want a touch more roughness, and its not quite much louder.
