i use the normal channel of my '99 AC30 because i don't like the lack of sustain i get through the brilliant channel. However, the tone of the normal channel tends to be a bit too dark when you turn the amp up. I've tried using a dallas rangemaster treble booster (built from the schematic) in front of the amp (ala brian may) but i'm not a fan of the resulting noise added when i use a tube screamer for overdrive. My question is, can I change out the 47nf capacitor for a 470pf capaitor in the preamp to get a little more treble bit out of the normal channel?

thanks,

chris

my question dealt with changing out a capacitor in the preamp to get a little bit more treble out of the amp without dealing with the 180 degree phase reversal of the brilliant channel or the weird mid range sucking of the tone controls. maybe i'll find a tech that can wire in a pot (that's a potentiometer, folks) to sweep between the two values. i guess that way i could find a happy medium without messing with the inherent architecture of the amplifier (ie being able to dial in the original tone or a brighter one)

thanks!
