G'day all.
Was wondering whether someone might be able to give us little info on an amp of mine. It's a old 1970s JMP. The serial number on the back is: SL/A 00647J. From my limited knowledge this means it's a 1977 100 Watt Super Lead.
Could someone please clarify what '/A' means? From what I've read it denotes 200W, which doesn't seem to fit. Alway thought this was a 100W amp.
Also, any ideas as to what it's worth these days? The unit's road warn, but it works fine. Don't want to sell it. Just curious.
All input appreciated.
Cheers,
Matthew. |

Hi mtom,
Your amp is indeed a 1977 Super Lead. The serial designation SL/A means 100-watt Super Lead. If the designation was A/serial, then that would signify a 200-watt amp.
Concerning value, it depends on the seller. I've seen Super Leads from this era going as high as $1500-$2000, and as low as $700-$800. I just picked a '77 Super Lead up for $850, which was definitely a lucky strike as far as I see it, considering I paid $1200 for my 2001 Super Lead Plexi re-issue. Sorry that I can't give you an exact blue book value, but I'd say it would be around $1500 or so. |
