After playing for about 5 to 10 minutes my head get the most heinous buzz. I used to hit it with my hand and it would go away. then it would come back. repeat. well, i opened it up, and this is where the problem lies. when i tap it with a pencil, the same thing happens. buzz. no buzz. buzz. no buzz. and this buzz is LOUD. can anyone suggest what is going on and how to fix it. I know how to solder, and work on minor electronics. i just don't want to die or make it worse. any help?

thank you

I just finished up a VTM120 that had MANY quality problems. I spent a lot of time on the pads of the board where the tube sockets connect, also several solder problems where pins were insulated from solder by corrosion, and IDC cable quality issues.

At least two other amp "techs" tried to fix my amp before I owned it, and failed.

Quality problems can be hard to fix especially if a land PAD has cracked from the PCB, then you have to extend the pad up the land with solder AFTER you scrape away the resist etch.

Regards,

Gary
