ive had this amp for over a year now, and i was just fine with the settings of my amp.... now all of a sudden i noticed that it sounded like crap and i suck at turning little dials left and right. I wanted to get a great sound and i cant find it, ive been speading hours putting them at 5 then changing and testing it. to be specific about the sound i kinda wanted it to be like this,

www.purevolume.com/thursday

ive been so frustrated with this wounderful amp, i almost bought new pickups, a distortion pedal and other stuff, and even almost put it up for auction on ebay...

I have the AVT50 combo version of your head. What type of speaker cabinet do you have your head hooked up to? This will further help the type of tone that can be achieved.

p.s. I also enjoy the AVT50 it is totally possible to get a sweet sound out of it.

Yea its hard to give out amp settings, but Im familiar with thursday and they aren't using tremendous amounts of distortion which is good so maybe put the Gain dial on halfway, the bass maybe halfway as well, Mids mess around with last) lower mid settings give t a more metalish sound and real chugging palm mutes, treble umm also mess around with...lol...the higher you put the treble the more piercing it will sound and more gritty the distortion will begin to get (bite). Mess with the volume levels also because every amp has its sweet spot on a particular volume setting. The amp tends to respond different at different volumes. for kiks you can add a tad bit of reverb in there put it up to 1 ish (adds a little fullness to the overall sound, too much and it will sound rediculously silly). I know i was not much of a help and you also knew some of the info already I assume. It is just ahrd to say because Im playing through totally different speakers then you are so my setting will not sound the same for you. Good luck just be patient and tkae your time....conciously think about what each control does to the overall texture and shape of the sound and adjust accordingly. If you want more grit and bite, turn the treble up. If you want more headroom for solos or something then boost the mids up. The bass if playing heavier rock you can boost it up a bit to get sweet heavy palm muts and chugs, but if playing average standard rock you do not need extreme bass sounds. Also be sure to not put really high amounts of gain (unless playing metal) because you would be surprised just how little gain (distortion) your favorite bands use live. It isnt a whole lot.

also please excuse my terrible typing, I tend to rush my typing and just smack these keys around and make some jibberish words. I am to lazy to go back and fix it all.
