Hi all. My first post here, so be gentle:)

I have a Marshall JCM 800 2204 head and the impedance selector only has markings for 4 and 8 ohms. Is that normal? I though that the allowed combinations were 4, 8 or 16 ohms since Marshall cabs are usually 16 ohms.

I have a mono 16 ohm cab that I want to use with the head but I don't want to damage the amp by running it the wrong way. I understand that it should be safe to run it while the impedance selector is set to 8 ohms but that is not ideal.

Any one know why Marshall did this?

Any help is appreciated.
