| i have a mg 10 watt..and it just started to make a weird noise when turned up. was wondering what it was and could ne one help me |

Its just a cheap piece of crap thats why it hums. Marshall produce very low quality amps in terms of construction quality and build ie. plastic jacks, footswitches are not reliable.
I work in a music shop and I get reports of Marshall amps (esp. MG series) being fitted out with wrong pots (tone knobs).
I recommend another amps. Maybe Vox?

Try switching to a higher-quality guitar cord (Monster, Core) first. Also, a clean power source is important. If you plug directly into the wall outlet, you'll get noise from other appliances using that circuit. Buy a noise-filtering power conditioner or surge strip or, at the very least, get an AC line filter at Radio Shack. They have something called a Notebook Computer Surge Station & Noise Filter, and it's only $2.50. Buy that and plug your amp into it before the outlet. Better than throwing your amp away. |
