Hi all,

I have an AVT150H Head, a Fender RocPro 300 watts cab, a Jackson Warrior WRXT (w/ Original pick-up) and a Death Metal (Digitech) distortion pedal. And my problem is when I play with my Band (1 drum and 1 other guitar) we are (both guitarist) experienting a major Noisy Feedback issue...
We can't just put our hands on our strings to stop the sound if so, a big big and loudly annoying distrubing hell sound of feedback is breaking our Ears... Any way to fix that or any idea on how to setup our things? like the direction of the amp vs our position and the drummer, etc... ?? I might change the Seymour Duncan's Detonator pick-up on my guitar for those LiveWire Metal activ one from Seymour Duncan too, will it be better?!

Thanks alot,

-Jmage

A) Use a noise gate

B) Move away from you amp.

C) Turn down your amp/pedal.

D) Turn down your guitar.

E) Any combination of the above.

Be advised that the Digitech Death Metal stompbox is a feedback machine, and in my personal opinion you could find a much better sound for the money anyway.

Just be sure you turn off the amp models on the V-Amp and only enable the noise gate, or you will hear extreme nastiness when it mixes with the Death Metal distortion. *shiver*

I have not tried any Behringer noise reduction products for myself, though I can say their one dedicated guitar model that I know of (the Guitar Denoiser) is no longer in production. The others that I know about are geared for pro sound applications and may not be practical for guitar.

The Rocktron Hush rack unit is a great noise reducer and is made for guitar.

By "Turn down your amp/pedal," I mean turn down the level on the stompbox or turn down the volume on you amp. On the guitar, roll your volume knob back just a little . . . take some of the heat out of the pick-ups but don't kill the tone. If you aren't as loud, you won't be as likely to experience feedback. In a setting with a live drummer, however, this is easier said than done. Smile

You say you are BOTH having the same problem?? Are your amps facing each other?? Sounds like you just need to turn down the levels a bit. How large is your practice area? How close do you stand to your amps?? I used to use the Digitech Death Metal Pedal too, but once I stepped up to my Crate Blue Voodoo, I had to get rid of it. It turned into a noise/feeback monster...my Crate HATES that pedal. But the gain on my Crate is awesome and I don't need a pedal.
BTW..I play Jacksons too!! Cool

Well the Amps aren't facing each other , but I'm placed like on the side of my Amp and facing my other guitarist Amp with the drummmer in the middle... We are playing in a living room in a basement (just to figure out the size of the space we play). My gig stuff is at is home atm. I'm suposed to go for a jam tonight I'll tell you guys when I'll tried all your ideas!

My volume of my amp is like between(little bit over) 1/4 and 1/2 power.
My pedal is at 1 more than the 1/4.
My guitar is in the max for sure cause if not the sound loose the distortion ...

With the V-Amp I can Bypass the amp and only use the Effect and Noise Gate, Im not as stupid as I said Razz

Hoo, and just to let you know, When I play alone with my big amp and can put the volume very High without any FeedBack, or little one , but no excessive one like as I'm jamming with my friends!

Well, finally I didn't go for a Jam tonight SadSad My drummer was busy with his Girlfriend Cool... Anyway, I think the Noise Gate will work but, does the Noise Gate reduce the duration of a Note when you let it ring?!? I think so...

Anyway, I'll see soon or later loll
Thank you!

Eh, drummers.

Yes, a noise gate can deaden a note prematurely. You just have to find a happy medium between keeping noise to a minimum while still maintaining a decent amount of sustain. You also want to be sure not to let a held note "sputter" as it fades out. May take some tweaking, but we all go through it, and the end result is worth the trouble. Cool
