|
|
Hi,
I am new to the group. I am in the market for a new amp to replace my old Yamaha B212. I have so far tried a 65W Crate and a 75W Line 6 Spyder. Both amps come with built-in effects (flange, chorus, etc), which sound OK in the store, but I am skeptical about how they would sound in the real world. Would like to hear opinions on these (or other) amps that might do the trick. The objective is to carry less gear (no pedals), and have a more versatile, less heavy amp than the Yamaha, but I also want reliability. After all, the Yamaha has lasted me 20 years so far. I will be using the new amp with a '79 Strat, and an Ibanez Roadstar II.
Thanks. |

Don't buy junk.
If you only plan 6 monthes - 2 years down the road, that's about how long the amp will last. Not only that, but you'll spend a ton more $$$.
Actually, just read an article I wrote entitled.
Line 6 : Taking Advantage of Kids Everywhere

Thanks. I'm no kid (4 . I kinda feel the same way as what you wrote in the article, and I have actually done the car thing your buddy did, so I hear you loud and clear. The reason I even asked was that the guy at guitar center was so adamant about the Crate and Line 6 amps that it made me suspicious. I don't want to fork out money for a Marshall or a Fender, so I guess I'll just continue to survive with my Yamaha. Maybe I'll just get better pedals. |

since you are shopping at the GUITAR CENTER I don't understand the problem....they have a 30 day return policy that is excellent !!!-- http://www.guitarcenter.com/gf/30_30.cfm ---i've used it a bunch of times & never once got any hassle for returning something i didn't care for-----use your credit card-OR- the GC card & take your choice home and try it out under the conditions you'll use it in---if its not right for you simply take it back & try something else.... _________________ ~T~...Live a little >crank it up< ...

| I don't have a problem. I was just asking other's opinions on these amps to make sure I don't have a problem down the road. I was aware of the GC return policy. Thanks. |
