Hey, does anyone here have the Crate GT1200H/G412SL Half Stack? I was looking at buying it, any suggestions on it or other half stacks that are good for around the same price?

I have played some crate sin the past as my skill was increasing and I have learned that Crate has very good clean sounds and deathmetal sounds if that is what you are looking for, but overall in my opinion sound very boomy, grainy, and harsh. Im not knocking Crate b/c Crate has its own place. Also i have expereienced where it is hard to contorl yourself and you want to get the biggest or loudest amp u can find, but i quickly learned that bigger is not better or always louder. I play in a band at medium venued shows and I use a 50w marshall combo. (MIC it of course when the venue is large) but even just practicing with it, it is plenty loud....i mean PLENTY loud especialy after you swap out the speaker for a better sounding and more efficient one (but thats a whole nother topic). Id suggest looking at the vox VDT50 i think its called they sound real good for what they are and I personally feel it will blow the crate out of the water tone wise, but if you are really set on buying the crate and you enjoy the feel and sound of it then by alllllll means get it. Being inspired by the sound and feel of your equipment will in return inspire you with your music playing overall. Dont always worry about having the biggest bestests amp or being able to blast eveyrones eardrums out with your amp or stack just find any amp with the sound you want and dont worry about the siz eof it. If it is small just mic it up. I apologize for the loooong reply post. I just fully understand what you are going through because i have bought sooo many amps in the past until i relized many things.
