Hey, well, I'm about to get a Guitar Amp Head. This one needs to be a tank... It won't be used by me, it will be for a practice room and you know how guitar players are sometimes... so I need something that lasts.
My options are not expensive heads... The Peavey XXL, the Carvin MTS and the B-52 AT.
I cannot try them 'couse I do not live in USA, I'll purchase through internet somehow... so it's hard to decide on which one of them.
Please, any recomendations, opinions, ettc. will be welcomed.
Thanks guys. |

Hi there, it's been quite a while since this thread was oppened...
So, I finally got a B52 and found a Bassman 10 in a very good condition for a few bucks. Right now I'm starting to think about the Fender SuperSonic, as it is supposed to have the best from both worlds Vibro and bassman....
How do you guys think this amp delivers concerning the pure clean sound and also this new gain channel so far?. |

Nicolaad,
If you want a rugged and indestructible 100 watt head try and find a Fender Stage 100 Dynatouch. They sound great and can take a lot of abuse. Solid State but with Dynatouch circuit that sounds likes tubes. They are cheap too...$250 US. Plenty of power if you need it and has channel switching. Don't get the newer version that has built in effects unless you want that. Works great with either a 2-12 or 4-12 cabinet. The clean channel is glass like and shimmering. My other choice would be a Marshall Valvestate VS 100, rugged with only one preamp tube, sparkling clean and two overdrive channels plus very rugged and around $275 US. You can spend a lot more for heads but these 2 will earn thier keep and last a long time with low maintenance.
Johnny

Hi there johny, well, I used to have the Fender Deluxe 90 combo, and it was really loud, but as I grew so did my passion for tube sounds and magic.
So I finally got two amps, one for me... and one for the people renting the room and the equipment. I got a pretty cheap deal on a Bassman Ten, and bought for me the B52 AT212 which i believe I won't be replacing for quite a while.
Right now I thought on getting something else for my two amp collection, I lean towards Mesa, Marshall, Fender or VOX. In average, the prices got from 1000$ to about 3000$ so I'm seeking reliability and quiality here...
The ones I sought after where the Fender Supersonic, the Marshall TSL, the Mesa Tripple or the Roadster. My tastes, well, hard to define I love Fender's clean but also love Mesa's dist. They say the Supersonic has some of both worlds... |
