Hi all,
New to the forum here, nice to meet you all.
I just had a quick question I wanted to ask here at the crate forum.
I recently purchased a Crate V 30 Head and matching cab.
I was just curious as to why the V30 head & cab went for $1,200
and the Crate vintage club 30 ( almost identical give or take) is going
for 1-200 dollars on the bay.
Is the price difference between the two THAT justifyable?
I hope I didn't offend anyone...just an honest curious question is all.
Take care and thank you for your time, Mass |

The amp you were talking about probably cost $500-600 new.The Vintage Club series amp is not the same amp as the V30H or V3112 combo amp.The V30H head sells for $599 new and the V3112 combo sells for $699 new.Your price example includes a 2x12 cabinet with tone tubby speakers that cost $550.There are tons of nice speaker cabinets out there for under $300.
I had a local amp tech build me a matching empty cabinet[1x12 or 2x10] for the V30H for $175.00 and loaded the speaker myself.
I'm sure by the end of this year some of the used V30H heads will start showing up on ebay for about $350-400
The older VC series amp are good amps but a used price cannot be fairly compared to new price on a new model amp. |

Dear Tweedman,
Hi there and nice to meet you.
I know that you cannot compare an older used amp to the cost of a newly introduced amp, but I think MORE what I was concerned about was that if you go and investigate the specs on both amps, they are so close it is crazy.
In other words, You can have the new model, or an old one in a different variation, but the specs are SO close.
If I had known that, I would have just bought the older model and saved a bundle.
Anyway, you are probably right, they will be on e-bay in no time.
by the way...they do have a great tone.
Take care and best regards, Mass |

| These amps now average $300 on EBay, the Club 20's are now going for $200... these have 4 preamp tubes v the 3 tubes of the newer vc312's... they sound terrific! |

| Yea Crate tends to pop out a bunch of model amps sometimes and it is mostly all teh same specs and parts just cosmeticly differed. It happens with other companys as well but i have really noticed that with Crate. Enjoy your new amp. |
