| I heard 7189 is the bigger brother to el84/6bq5. since 7189's are rare and expensive can I use the el84's instead? If anyone knows please fill me in. |

Hi,
YES you can directly substitute 6bq5/el84 for the 7189 tube.
Try ebay for a good deal. type in 6bq5 in search engine and have a blast!
buy only those w/actual test #'s listed as "Good" can be almost dead!!

| Thanks for the info. the el84m's are supposed to be better for replacing the 7189's a little more expensive but apparently worth it.I guess i'll just see how much$ I got when i buy them. |
