Hey guys, Got a problem just bought this Fender hot rod deluxe off ebay. The amp is great amp except it has this sound when i play after i stop playing like a blown speaker sound, so I hooked the speaker in the combo up to another amp a vintage fender head and it sound beatiful. So something is wrong with the inside of the amp or the tubes. I don't know much about tubes but is that nasty slapback bad speaker sound from bad tubes that need replaced or is this a problem within the amp

just like clay- If you have or can borrow an old fashoned tuning fork. Strike the fork, and hold it against each pre-amp tube with the heat shield removed. See if this will locate a microphonic tube. Every tube amp owner should have an old tuning fork.

Onward through the fog. I did a little brush-up on trouble shooting. Microphonic power tubes, not pre-amp make the noise you describe. This is mistaken often for a blown speaker. Pre-amp tubes usually just ring. Replace your power tubes with known good ones to see if the problem goes away.
