|
|
I have not been able to find help for a problem i have finding a good distortion sound. right now i use a 2x12 Fender hotrod deville, these amps are known for the amazing clean sounds, but do not provide a very good distortion sound. Too solve this problem i have been using a Morley A/B/Y pedal to connect my deville with a Peavey Bandit 1x12 for my distortion. My Problem is that that is just too much equipment to be carrying around every gig, and it is too noisey. So to solve this problem i am looking for a good pedal or anything, that will give me a good, full distortion. The sound i am after is like a full Marshall distortion with a lot of good sustain, but with a full low end sound like from a mesa-boogie. I am open for any suggestions on what is good to achieve this sound.
Thank you |

I suggested the mesa V-twin on the other post.If you like the Peavey why not just get a bigger Peavey?I personally hate the sound ......they have a weird midrange. But if you like it go for it. _________________ It ian't a piano, you have to PLAY it in tune. |

Tricky one!
The never ending quest for that ultimate clean fender sound combined with the sweet distortion of an old marshall....
Well, I donīt think weīll ever find that amp. For me it has been a question of, just deciding. And I went for the crisp, clean sound of a fender amp!
I think you get the best clean sound with the types of fender amps that do not produce overdrive att all, like the vibrolux, twin, vibro-king (I have got a dual proffessional).
With this amp, I am totally dependent by my overdrive stomp box.
Iīve tried the V-amp, I itīs not my personal favorite. I think the Ibanez tube-king is much better, BUT....
What you really should try is the Koch-pedal tone! This is the one! Try it out, it the best you can get...

I've always had a problem with the sound of Fenders in overdrive. Clean, fine. Driven, don't like 'em. I know blues players like them, but for distorted rock sounds, no one really uses them for that. The closest I've come is my Sunn T50C, which has a clean Fender vibe and British overdrive sound. I think it needs a bigger cab though, because it's a combo, and the one 12 just doesn't have enough bottom. Haven't heard it in a 4*12 cab.
It is an eternal search. That's why when you read about groups and what they used on their records, they have 10 different amps in the studio, for different sections of the song (like Third Eye Blind)!
Supposedly, one of the finest new small amps out there is here:
http://www.cornfordamps.com/launch.html
They have online sound samples. They are very well made, and the little one is just supposed to be killer (6 watts or 8 watts or something).
Good Luck! |

A nice sounding fender amp can be overdriven in a good way... but to go after the marshall flavor... using a fender amp might be missing the point. Take advantage of that distinctive character that a cranked fender tube amp possesses.
I haven't used it myself, but if you really want your fender and your marshall in one package, try the tech21 GT2. |

| I have a similar problem w/ my Fender amps - I use an Electro Harmonix Hot Tubes - its the reissue with 2 12ax7's in it...great distorted sound, creamy & ballsy & very tweakable. The best part is that it retains the tonal characteristics of the Fender - giving you an amazingly transparent yet full, powerful tube distortion. I can't say it sounds like a cranked Marshall, but it essentially adds an extra gain stage to your amp and just sounds great. Simply the best distortion pedal I've ever used. Its a little pricey, and I did change the tubes, but overall its a killer pedal and well worth it. |

| I use a Boss Blues driver for my overdrive with my Lectrolab amp. When you crank the gain up it has a good Marshall-ish sound.I use the amps gain for that slightly overdriven sound. It works great for me,try one out & see for yourself. You may or may not agree. |
