Hello,
bit of a long winded question here! but bear with me if you can..
I have an old Simms Watt PA Head MKII which I use for my guitar. Love the sound that it produces.
I currently own a 4x10 1965A marshall cab, and also a vox v212 cabinet.
I recently tried an old Marshall 4x12 cab in the recording studio and really prefrerred the sound in comparison to my 4x10 Cabinet.
I've done one gig with the vox cab and found it ok but not blinding.
I'm tempted to splash the cash and buy a 4x12 cabinet, however the main reason I bought the 4x10 cab was its portability in comparison to 4x12 cabs.
My question is this:
1. Is there a 4x12 cab i can get that is nice and portable?
2. THe simms Watt has 2 outputs - If i got another 2x12 cabinet would the sound be similar to a 4x12? If this is the case then this opens an interesting question about whether to stay with vox cab's or go with something else. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
3. Can I get a 4x10 cab which will give me the sounds of a nice 4x12??
appreciate this is all very personal taste stuff, but If anyone has any opinions on some/all of the above points then great! |

You are right about the personal taste statement...
If I were you... I'd go with 2 2x12s. When I was young and playing out, I
did use a 4x12 - I can't imagine lugging that thing around any more
The thing I like about 2 2x12s is you can separate the cabinets - one on one
side of the stage/practice area, one on the other side - or have them next to
each other but one angled towards the left, one angeled towards the right -
spreads your sound out more by giving you those options of direction for the
sound.
thats my personal take on it.
Rock on! |

Agreed. I'd go with the two 2x12 cabs. You get a lot more options that way, and can still get the same tone as a 4x12. _________________ "I love the smell of hot solder in the morning. It smells like victory." |
