I got a '69 50W Bassman head which I have converted into a very, very sick amp....pure Blackface on one channel and a Tweed/marshall on the other. On the tweed channel, I installed a master voulme pot right before the 220k mixing resistor. Now it worked fine and still does, but I recently changed my old worn out RCA's for a set of '59 Tung Sol 5881's....I couldn't believe the volume and drive difference! pretty wild...unfortunately the amp has to be LOUUDD to get that nice power tube saturation and the master volume doesn't quite work as nice as previously....it sounds crap from 1-3 and then kicks in super loud!! sounds good but the wife is complaining!!

Anyone know of any tricks in adding in a Master volume while keeping as much tone as possible? I was also trying to preserve the tweed channel so that when the MV is turned all the way up it is essentially bypassed and the Tweed channel is running stock....

Thanks!!!
