hey everyone i'm new here. i recently bought a 100 watt tube head so now i need a cab, after some studying i understand i need a 2x12 to handle all the power. but my budget has limited my option to some extend. so as of now i have 400 dollars to work with, i can probably go over a bit overboard depending on how much a noise gate is going to cost me. any suggestion would be appreciated. btw can anyone explain the difference between open back and closed back? and my style is heavily influenced by progressive blues solo, swing metal and sometimes nu metal.

Hi,
What you need is a cabinet with speaker(s) rated at at least 100 watts into whatever resistance (ohm) rating your amp puts out. Most american amps are 8 ohms, and most british are 16 ohms. However, many modern amps have multiple speaker jacks.
There are single speakers out there that are rated at 10 watts and at 200 watts. you could get a 1x12 cabinet with a 100 watt speaker, or a 4x12 cabinet with four 25 watt speakers. You could get 10" speakers or 15". It isn't how big the speaker is, but how much power it can handle.
check with dave at avatar speakers. he sells very nice cabinets at a reasonable price.

Hey babow. How are ya. I noticed you have a Washburn HBsomething. Is that a jazzbox type guitar? How do you like it? I like the HB15. It's kind of a copy of a Gibson es125.

Hi,
Yeah, I have an HB-35, which is a variation of a Gibson ES-335 thinline hollowbody. It has a zebrawood top, duncan pickups, tonepros hardware, coil taps and grover locking tuners. It is the only 335 style on the market with the Buzz Feiten Tuning System. So, it has much better equipment and features than a Gibson. I have owned PRS, Hamer, etc... and love this 335 type guitar. _________________ Guitars: Tom Anderson Classic, Tom Anderson Hollow T, Washburn HB35 Zebrawood Ltd, Taylor T5-C2, Taylor K20-c, Wingert FV-C.

Cool. I really like the looks and simplicity of the HB15. Single p/u. Deep body, and the price is downright silly. The problem is, they are kinda hard to find. I'd have to order one in order to play it.
