I'm new... you'll realise this in a few seconds.
I've managed somehow to get hold of an old 50w amp head plus two speaker columns, I wouldn't have got this type of kit yet as i'm totally new to the guitar but it was pretty much being given away.
My noob question is the amp has two jacks on the back 15ohm and 7.5ohm and i've found out the two columns are 15ohm each, both columns have one input. I've read so much about ohms and impedances i think i've confused myself. How would I hook these up? I read if using two columns I would have to use the 7.5ohm jack but there's only one?? can i just hook the second to the 15 ohm?
Is it OK to use this emoticon? |

If the head is a solid state head - meaning there are no tubes in it, then
sure, go ahead and use both jacks & both speaker columns. The worst that
will happen is that the total output power will be reduced (doubtful that you
will notice it) and you might loose a little high end - but again this is all worst
case.
Now.. if its a tube based head, you would be smart to find out how the out
put jacks are wired and/or get a hold of the manual before tyring anything.
Could you ask the person you got them from???
What kind of head & speaker cabs you got there? |
