| Well, this is an amp forum, and I assume most participants use them to amplify an electric guitar (tho i'm sure there are other unique uses for them too). So I'm ready to buy a Gibson SG Special faded (lefty!), the discontinued model, which has cool crescent inlays, rather than the stupid generic dots on the new one. My woe is, theres only 5 of them: the first 5 intervals (3,5,7,9 and 12). I play lead, and i'm worried that i'll have trouble playing the high pitched solos without any indication of the fret numbers. any solo guitarist here wanna confirm or corect my worry? |

I watched a Chinese fiddle player on t.v. once who played most of his solo with his eyes closed. I'm not saying I can do that though. |

Go to a feature called Lefty Land on the left, and scroll down to the second last guitar, it is the one i'm buying. hope u approve, and could you or anyone else still help me with my original question? will i still manage zeppelin, metalica, ac/dc and similar solos without the last four inlays????? |

lefty, that's a fine one, and it would probably be criminal to have some more position markers added. The lack of markers is a problem that can be overcome. Most classical style guitars dont have them. I have a friend who gigs, and prefers light colored fingerboards for low light venues. He does look at the fingerboard when playing, but I notice a lot of pros don't. A good luthier could add some more crescents, stars, dots or whatever you choose, but any future "collectors' value" would be lost. This doesn't apply if you become a famous guitarist; then those signature markers would help prove the guitar once belonged to you. |

thanks tim, i'm planning to be the next angus young, but better! lol it will take some years. thanks fot the support, im plannin to fork over the cash (not rele cash) in a few days........then i'll just need a good amp.........and that will cost much, much, more. I'll see how it works out with the crescents, i certainly dont want those idiotic generic dots, thats wat my lefty pacifica has now, and i'm not crazy about their looks, i think they ruin even the best guitars, conversely i love the trapezoids and stuff, but i'm not made of money........maybe if i get real good, i'll add some crescents like you suggested, only time will tell, i've got lots of time |
