Hello everyone.
My name is Richard and I'm obviously new to the forum, and I actually need some help with some things and I've read around here and most people around this forum seem to know their stuff so, here goes...

I recently got all the gear that I've wanted for my dream rig, which are as follows:
1970 Fender Twin Reverb Combo w/new Mojo BV-25s installed
1968 Ampeg VT-22 combo w/unmarked speakers (haven't really checked into those yet as the amp just arrived yesterday)
Orange 2x12 cab w/ Celestion V30s
Vintage Electro Harmonix USA Big Muff
MXR Micro Amp
Digitech Whammy IV
Fulltone Fat Boost
and my baby, my 57' Gretsch Duo Jet w/TV Jones magnatron in the bridge

Now, where my problem begins, is that I had originally planned to go with either one or the other (Fender or Ampeg) matched up with the Orange as my main rig and the other would be my home practice/small gig/acoustic gig amp.
But now the idea has popped into my head to try and chain the two together and use them both with the Orange.
The objective was to cut the mids and dime the treble on the Twin and boost the mids and cut the treble on the Ampeg (though that's not set in stone as I often change settings on my amps mid-gig just to find a different tone) and create a dynamic duo of sound along with the pedals.
But, as I worked and saved for nearly 6 years to put this rig together, I don't want to do anything that will damage it.
I've no clue as to how daisy chaining would work, or if it could, as I've never had to gear in which to try and pull something of caliber off.
I don't even know where to begin, so if anyone has any idea if it's possible and if so, a rough guide as to how to pull it off.
Any help and/or suggestions are welcome.
Thanks you guys.

-Richard

Welcome Richard/Sixshooter!

Yes, I'm pretty sure you can daisy chain the amps through this method:

Quote:
If your amps have two inputs, typically labeled 1 and 2 or LOW and HIGH, all you have to do is to plug your guitar into one of those inputs and run a cord from the other input to the next amp. If you want to run three amps at once, simply continue the daisy-chain. It's that simple, really. The way the jacks are wired, your guitar's signal passes (almost) directly from one to the other.

There are exceptions. Some amps, typically channel-switching amps, don't have two input jacks. Too bad. And if you have an amp that sends each jack directly to a separate preamp section... Yup, too bad. At any rate, if your amp has two input jacks for a channel, try to daisy-chain it. If it's wired as 99% of guitar amps are wired, you'll be in business.

But the problem with your plan comes in using the 2x12 cab. Unless you:
1- disconnect the internal speakers from both amps
2- The orange 2x12 is a stereo cabinet
3- The impedance is right for both amps using only 1 of the v30's in the 2x12 cab

Then I don't see how it will work. However you could easily use both
amps and their perspective internal speakers.

Did I understand your question properly?

Actually, yes, thanks a lot.
And I actually had a feeling that the cab would be the problem essentially.

So I just had another thought, if I chain the amps together and on have one running to the cab via the external jack, everything should be fine correct?

Say: Fender > Ampeg > Orange

Yes, just as long as the impedance matches and all that's taken care of,
yes, it will work just fine!

Its more then doable, but are you sure you want to haul around 2 combos
and a 2x12 cab & guitar and pedals? (or are you not moving the equipment
around too much?)

OR - if you are into this kind of thing, you can make a head cabinet for the
amp you are going to use with the orange cab - that would make things a
little easier Confused
