does anyone know anything about laney history. i have to go to small claims on an ebay rip off and i need all the information on a mid-80's AOR100 with 4x12 w/ celestion g12-75's. this amp was in a personal collection and is like new condition with less than 2hrs of playing time. it's serial # is 1020. i bid on this amp because:
1. it is in rare condition for this time period for an amp that isnt that common to begin with.
2.i wanted it because through experience and research it is the closest in sound to a 87 jcm 2210 (2210). what are your opinions on this?
3. it was loaded with all new groove tubes and my best sounding 800 had all GT's in it. this alone is a somewhat expensive modification. would you agree?
i won the auction with an incredibaly low bid of 450.00 ( i am sencing sellers remores with the other party.) what is your opinion of how much it would cost to put me in a similar position had the contract been enforced?
thanks for all of your help, SMGDC

| smgdc, are you saying that after the auction was over, the seller changed their mind because the winning bid was too low? I assume your bid met the reserve price? You sent the $450 but didn't get the amp, is this correct? |

i sent 524. that included shipping. met reserve price. in reply to neg feedback he claims late pay but i have proof via tracking number of payment. plus he told me he received it over the phone but that preety worthless in court.
he told me that he ships once per week. i called him on his ship date for tracking # and he said he didnt get the cab packed so he would send it next wednesday. i emailed him many times with no replies. the last email told him that i would like an answer to why he wasnt repling to my emails and that if i didnt get a shipping number on his next shipping date that i would take action and leave neg feedback (something like 10-15 emails). i called him on the next shipping date and he gave me the run around so i gave him a neg feedback. he almost immediatly replied with this email:
I was able to put a stop on your shipment after your viewing your feedback post. You are going to learn some patents on this. Your item will ship 30 days from the date of your post. While consulting your lawyer you should ask him about the laws in your state concerning impersonating a doctor. Better luck in the future. John
he is being a jerk and now it looks like i will have to drive to ohio to go to court. |

That's a bummer smgdc. I've heard of many such stories when people get ripped off on the internet. The seller always has some excuse why he can't ship. I've never bought anything off E-Bay. Don't they have some kind of system to ensure payment? Negative feed-back probably don't mean much if he can pop back up in a few weeks under another name. I don't think I'd ever send a penny to a stranger unless I had a valid street address, phone number and someway of verifying they were valid. I know if you pay with a U.S.P.S. money-order, you can get the Feds involved if you get swindled.
Do you know anyone that lives near enough to this "seller" to go in person and pick up the amp? You probably would have to eat the shipping, but at least the amp would be more or less in your possession. If he won't go for this on the phone, then you know it's a rip-off. |

| I'm thinking maybe if you contact the seller, explain about the Feds soon being involved, he may cough up the amp. Unless the amp never existed. There's always that possibility. |

Heres what you do..... Ive had to cross this bridge before myself!
Call up your local postmaster at the post office and tell them your situation and that you want to file a compolaint. Make copies of all emails from that thief and your money orders, etc. This will take care of the post office (mail fraud).
Then call up the thief's local police department and tell them you would like to file a complaint against the thief. Give them the thief's name, address, phone number, etc. Be prepared to fax, mail, etc a copy of all emails and copy of money order(s).
You might give the thief one last chance to come clean by tleling him if he doesn't send you back all $$ or the amp within x amount of days then you will be filing a complaint with the postmaster and his local police department. I would call him up and do this right after I sent him an email that said the same thing.
All this usually makes something happen rather quick..$$ or amp!
