I'm soon gonna buy myself a valve amp. Having played my V-amp2 a lot, I've found out that I like the british valve amp sound. Then I came into this forum and saw that it was nothing else but VOX being discussed. But a VOX is a little over my budget by now, so what other amp manufacturers have the british sound?
I like Orange as well, but they're also too expensive. Then I found a used Laney VC30 which is being called the "Vox killer" ... But it was sold before I could test it.
But what would you prefer me to be looking for?
And having the same money, do I then get the best sound out of bying: A combo; or bying a stack (thought of a good top, and then a cheaper mediocre cabinet) |

Hey Koeffe,
It really depends on how much you want to spend and what features your after. A few of the simple but important things to consider are:
Single channel or 2 channel (or more), what style you want to play, who your playing with (home practice, band practice/performance).
Other thing to consider are: do you currently use effects (effects loop needed), size and weight (bigger looks great in shop, not so great when loading it in and out of a car 4 nights a week).
My advice is to write down what the amp really has to have for you to be happy then look around online in your price range.
Havnt really said anything amazingly unobvious here.. but hope it helps.. |
