If you want a spongier old school gruntiy chunky sound , put a 5y3 rectifier in place of the gz34 . The5y3 is an old style tube from the war era and sags really well in a ac30 .. ... the 5y3 is used in the early fender champs , which were a low powewed amp think hubert sumlin from the howlin wolfs band
