My current setup is a line 6 pod xt into an old heavy power amp which drives a 2 x 12 marshall cab, one output from the pod goes into the power amp the other straight into the pa. i am looking at replacing the amp with a lighter more powerful model. Is there any reason i should not use something like the ashdown superfly. this seems to satisfy all my requirements; lightweight, plenty of power, DI out? or are bass heads not suitable for guitar use. I only really require the power stage of the head all copmression eq etc would be turned off.

Many thanks

Why not get a power amp. By introducing a tone circuit, you are coloring the sound of the XT.

Thanks for the reply, i currently use the cab with a power amp, and one option would definitely be to get a lighter power amp as you suggest. However out of interest would a bass head be usuable and how much colouration am i likely to get with the eq etc all bypassed.
