Hi! I am new to the group, thanks for having me.

I'll be brief: my uncle just gave me a Fender Pro. He bought it in 1958 or 59 I believe it was. I plugged into it and it plays, all knobs seemed to work, standby works, light still works. The only thing is, the speaker starts to vibrate and make noises... sort of dies out... with lower notes.

What I'm hoping... could this just be it needs its tubes changed? That would be awesome!

Thanks so much for any help.

Major score! My grandfather gave me his accordian! Sounds like the speaker needs to be reconed. Not an uncommon thing and by no means a tough job, several good reconers are out there. Try hooking it up to another speaker, unplug the stock speaker and plug in one you know is good, any size, play a bit and see if that's it. If not and it was me, with a Narrow Panel Pro, one of my favorite amps of all time, I'd find a good tech to check it out. I use Skip Simmons in Dixon CA and highly recommend him. He's serviced all my amps for the last 5 years. Tell him I sent you. He's got a web site, search for Skip Simmons amps. Who ever you use make sure they're familiar with tweed amps and make sure they don't change anything until they consult with you. Tubes for that amp are easy to find. Fenders are almost bullet proof and the last of the tweeds are the best sounding IMHO.
