just bought this at a pawn cheap,... plugged it in set at hi, and 16ohm into a 1-12 16 ohm cab speaker connection,(a marshall jcm 800 50w combo)
it sounded fine for about 10-15 secs, then I smelled lots of heat burning not really smoke, just heat & burning smells, shut it off and noticed 1) the volume was gone,. disappeared as smell and heat increased, 2) two tubes were total red hot hot hot (not normal glow),..
should i try new tubes? did i hook up wrong??? any ideas?
thanks robert |

| i have no idea...but if you have little in it you may be better off to pay a pro to look at it. because if you "fix" it wrong it may ruin it! |

Sounds like a shorted power tube.
Check your fuse(s)! Make sure someone hasn't done the ol aluminum foil trick. |

| Hey, Ardec2, Jeff's advice was excellent. If you got it cheap, invest a little more and get a qualified Marshall repairman to check it out! It could be a simple problem that only a pro would find, then you might have a super cool rig for 10-20 more years. |
