Hey folks,
Was just scratching about internet looking for advice on things to do with my new amp and found this forum. I've just bought a marshalls AS50D acoustic and it sounds great but i'm not the most technically gifted and cant help feeling theres so much more i could get out of it, theres plenty of inputs to plug in other things but i really dont know where to start. Any advice much appreciated.

| welcome to amptalk Mozzer. I don't really know too much about acoustic amps (other than the fact that they can double as PA's for vocalists), but after looking at the amp specs for your marshall, I'd say there's really not a lot you can do. It does have an effects loop, which is useful if you want to run some effects pedals. But honestly I wouldn't worry too much about your amp, it's designed to amplify the sound of your acoustic and other than coloring your tone with some chorus of reverb, that's about all it needs to do. But like I said I don't really know too much about acoustic amps so don't take me too seriously. I'd say the best thing is to just read the manual and figure out what you want to do. |

Hi shuphrk,
thanks for posting a reply buddy. I suppose your spot on about just plugging in and playing, at least there is a mic channel which means i can just play and belt out some of my very dodgy tunes......
dunno what an effects pedal would actually do to the sound of an acoustic but thanks again for replying.....glad i found this forum....

Some effects pedals can be used effectively with acoustic guitars, without losing the sound and nature of their tones. The trick is to use them subtly and sparingly. A little bit of chorus and/or delay, can make them very nice, too much, and it definitely sounds processed. Those effects can work well through your effects loop. Using a touch of compression can be very effective also. _________________ "I love the smell of hot solder in the morning. It smells like victory." |

Hello SAguitar,
I'm picking small bits up here and there and generally trying out different settings. The good thing is that its given me an added interest now and i'm enjoying it and i even think my playing has improved due to having this amp........cant be a bad thing. |
