| I have inherited a 50's DeLuxe. It sounds really great but I can't turn the volume all the way down without turning the amp completely off. That is, I turn the knob down all the way and the amp is still putting out a good deal of sound. All I can do is turn the knob to "click" off. Sometimes I need to play softer than I can make it. Plus it would be nice to be able to turn all the way down to unplug the guitar quietly. Is there an easy adjustment to fix this? Thanks! |

I would get that amp in to a qualified tech, that doesn't sound like a simple problem, unless the pot is completely worn out, being an old amp they are entitled to old age problems, but I would get it to a shop before it smokes, a joke hehe good luck
ps powering it off and on like that can do damage so avoid that if you can. |

Sounds like you've got a TV front with the combo on/off switch-volume control. How old is it? It's worth taking to a good tube tech familiar with tweeds. A shot of quality cleaner/lube might fix it if you fell up to it. Maybe a new switch/control is needed. The parts still available.
Remove and insert the tubes a few times to clean the sockets up a bit. |
