I just ran into a cheap Yamaha B100 III Head, 100W bass head, and I was thinking of trying to use it for guitar. I can't find any specs on this amp unfortunately and I don't know *Poop* about electronics, so I'm very scared of frying something. Or just sounding like crap. Or looking like a bozo.

Can I run this through something like a Traynor 1x12 guitar cab? Or does it need to be a bass cab?

I'm new to the world of amps, but I've been direct pc recording for a few years now. I have a definite sound that I'm used to squeezing from my big muff pi & small stone & wah pedals. Am I correct in assuming that using the bass head would prevent my speaker from breaking up naturally like a guitar amp would, so any distortion would have to come from my pedals anyway?

Any help is appreciated.

The original rock amps were bass heads with guitar cabs because bass amps have way more gain so they sound more rocking. At least they did until about 1960 when people figured out how to make high gain guitar amps. So my advice would be to remember that you sort of already have the pregain cranked to about 8 even if there isn't a pregain knob. Ease into it and you may really like it. If the Yami is a solid state head avoid clipping at all costs because it will sound like crap.
