Just curious how y'all feel about The Fender Cyber series and other "modelling" amps.
To me they sound pretty good, but they lack that distinct abstract tonal variety to truly duplicate what they are intending to duplicate. Some of the Custom Shop settings on the F-word stuff is neat, but just not terribly practical to my ear. On the other hand that Johnson/Line 6/Tech 21 stuff just sounds like dog meat to me. They seem to lack any warmth or fatness to them. I love the sound of an original Blackface Twin, but you'll only find that distinct sound in the real deal. The cabinet construction, age of the wood and speaker, the tube characteristcs etc... just can't be done with a computer chip as far as I am concerned. _________________ symphones of sickness, melodies of universal malice |

| Well I've had one for about a year now, and I happen to think it is a tremendous amp. I went in to buy what I thought was going to be a tube amp. I was trying to decide between a Fender DRRI and a Hot Rod Deville when I noticed a CyberTwin lurking in the corner. I plugged in my Strat and rest, as they say, is history. It has a nice selection of amp selections, I use the '59 Bassman the most, and excellent reverb, tremolo and chorus to add in the mix. The weak spot is most of the preprogrammed special effect settings, but there's plenty of room to design your own, and I have a few quite excellent special settings. It's relatively easy to tweak, and everyone that has heard mine really loves the sounds I get out of it. |
