Bought a used Marshall VS30R a few weeks ago, played it for a few weeks and everything was great. I plugged into the amp last night and I got some popping and buzzing sounds and it cut in and out. Today I tested it again and the popping was still there a little, but now the sound of my guitar isn't comming through the speaker at all. No matter how loud the volume is cranked on the amp, there isn't any kind of response from the guitar. I've checked my guitar cable and both guitars and I am very certain that they have nothing to do with the problem. Anyone have any ideas on what the problem may be? Could the preamp tube need to be replaced?

I hate to sound like a broken record ( I guess some of you younger folks don't know what a record is; when scratched, it kept repeating the same thing over and over), but this sounds like something has loosened up either on the cord plugs, or one of the jacks (amp or guitar). You wouldn't belive the number of " broken " guitars and amps I've fixed by just tightening the hardware. I hope this helps. Most of the time, if there is no smoke or burnt smell, it is a simple problem that might take some searching, but is easy to fix.

Guitar Guy503, I just noticed you live up in Portland. It's a great town. I've got a friend there lives on the east side on Salmon. I really enjoy my visits there. There is a coffee shop downtown that is almost worth the trip just for a cup of their coffee. Great used bookstore downtown too.
